Profile
Keith was born in London in 1962. Although he exhibited an unusual talent for drawing and painting as a child, he was talked into pursuing a “safe” career by teachers. After a few years however, his innate love of art and design drove him to take a bold step and he quitted his job to embark on a lengthy period of artistic study. After gaining both a diploma and a degree he went on to achieve an impressive MA in Art and Design, specializing in drawing. During this intense period of learning, Keith also gained a broad range of professional experience in a number of design-related areas until he decided to devote all his energies to fine art and officially became a full time artist.
Keith describes himself as having come to painting “the long way round”, which he feels has given him a certain artistic integrity. Rather than studying fine art and trying to invent interesting concepts to make himself stand out from the crowd, his inspiration and motivation grew up as a gradual process, from which his unique and personal style eventually emerged. Influenced by his ingrained affection for city life and his love of cinematic imagery, Keith now paints stunning oils which represent his response to the excitement of an urban existence. Like the films he loves, his paintings are brimming with animation and drama and recreate the atmosphere of a city night with accuracy and panache.
Keith’s uplifting artwork has been exhibited at a variety of prestigious events all over the UK, and he has also carried out some impressive private commissions.
“The city has two conflicting sides to its personality – reflective and mysterious on the one hand, but bold and theatrical on the other. I love to take this intriguing duality and find within it the grain of an idea that will both engage and uplift people.”
